Brian trained with Ernst & Young and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987. He spent 4 years working with Stirling Council, including two years supporting and advising in excess of 80 trusts and voluntary and charitable organisations in the areas of Finance, I.T., H.R. and strategic development. He then moved to become the Finance Director of a Housing Association in the east end of Glasgow. In 1999 he became the Director of Finance & Corporate Services where he had responsibility for Finance, Company Secretarial Matters, I.C.T, H.R., Reception, Events Management, Tenant Management, Building Maintenance and Health & Safety and Media Development. In 2002 Brian joined the European Social Fund (ESF) Objective 3 Partnership Limited as Chief Executive, before setting up his own Accounting Practice in 2004. Currently, Brian is the Managing Director of FBD Consultancy (Scotland) Ltd a firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors based in the central belt of Scotland. He has a team of 9 staff and associates who provide a wide range of payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, VAT, Tax and other advisory services to small and medium sized businesses, charities and public sector bodies. The business has been running for 7 years and is growing successfully each year. FBD’s vision statement is to support and educate businesses in and around the central belt of Scotland to become more successful and sustainable for the long term. Brian has a strong interest in sport and has represented Scotland at all levels in table tennis throughout the world. He participates regularly in squash, table tennis and tennis and enjoys both keeping fit and the cut and thrust of competitive play. Brian also has a very strong interest in leadership and personal development, through reading, listening, attending seminars and ongoing mentorship. Brian is pleased to have the privilege of serving on the Board of Social Enterprise Academy, and organisation at the heart of entrepreneurship which crossroads with social conscience. He hopes to add value wherever he can. Brian is excited by the many programmes run by Oatridge College to assist land based businesses to fulfil their potential and to inspire and successfully develop their management teams and their organisations.
