Senior Lecturer in Carbon Management, School of GeoSciences University of Edinburgh

Dave Reay studied Marine Biology at Liverpool University and graduated in 1994. He went on to gain a PhD with the British Antarctic Survey and Essex University studying the effects of warming in the Southern ocean.

After gaining his doctorate he continued working as a post-doc at Essex, investigating the soil methane sink.

In 2001 he moved to Edinburgh University to investigate greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and forests, and went on to become a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Fellow in the School of Geosciences.

Dave is now a senior lecturer in carbon management and director of the University’s new MSc in Carbon Management. He is also the author of Climate Change Begins at Home (for adults), Your Planet Needs You! (for children), and editor of the leading climate change science website GHGonline.org. Dave lives in Scotland with his wife, two daughters, and Florence the Labrador.
