Paul Mathers
Programme Manager, Landscape & Regeneration, WRAP
Paul has 20 years in the coal mining and minerals extraction industry in the UK and overseas. He
gained experience firstly as a mining engineer and progressing through site management to operational positions at corporate level.
In the mid 90’s, due to the demise of the coal mining industry, he changed path and joined VHE Construction, a major contaminated land remediation contractor.
He was project engineer for VHE on the earthworks section of the Manchester Airport Runway 2 project and responsible for VHE’s part in the construction of the M77 motorway contract south of Glasgow.
As General Manager of one of the VHE Group companies and Director of a new-start business he formed “Rubber Recovery Ltd”, to recycle tyres and rubber waste.
In 2006 he joined the Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) organisation as Programme Manager. In the new business plan he is tasked with delivering a three year programme targeting the Landscape, Regeneration and Agriculture sectors.
